From its earliest days, charity has been the most visible Masonic activity. Scottish Freemasons have always been devoted to care for disadvantaged children, the sick and the elderly within their community.
The Scottish Masonic Charitable Foundation of Western Australia (SMCFWA) is a not-for-profit organisation that was established in 2004 when the District Grand Lodge of Western Australia made the decision to change the name of the "Scottish Masonic Homes Society". This name change allows members and their families to be more involved in charitable activities within the State and provide relief to the West Australian community in which they live.
Although the Foundation has been involved in charitable activity over the last 4 years, the directors made the decision at the end of 2008 to sell the homes in Menora and use the proceeds to step up their charitable giving activities.
The Foundation aims to provide financial & non-financial support to Scottish Freemasons and charitable/not-for-profit community organisations within the State.
The District Grand Lodge of WA encourages WA Scottish Freemasons and friends to support the Foundation and its activities, as well as seek out philanthropic opportunities we can explore together. If you would like to help by making a contribution of your money, your time or both, or if you know of any charities/not-for-profit organisations that the Foundation might consider supporting, please let us know.
